Week 3 Results: Smiths Falls

Week 3 of Build a Mountain of Food stopped in Smiths Falls at the following locations:

  • Andress’ Your Independent Grocer
  • Giant Tiger
  • The Garden Market
  • Food Basics

And, once again, we were blown away by your generosity!

Food collected and donated: 52,658 lbs.

Cash collected and donated: $12,806.45

Our Store-to-Store challenge collected:

  • 500 lbs. of food from Food Basics
  • 2,500 lbs. of food from The Garden Market
  • 6,000 lbs. of food from Giant Tiger
  • 17,000 lbs. of food from Andress’ Your Independent Grocer

Several successful campaigns were conducted, including:

  • 205 lbs. of food from SFDCI Junior RedHawks Basketball’s Friday Night Hoops for Food (Todd Spencer)
  • 535 lbs. of food from RE/MAX Affiliates Realty Ltd., Brokerage Door-to-Door collection
  • 12,944 lbs. of food from Andress’ Pre-Packaged Bag Challenge

In addition, we collected from the Cash to Food initiative:

  • 1,000 lbs. of food from Rideau Home Hardware Building Centre (Scott Flemming)
  • 1,000 lbs. of food from RE/MAX Affiliates Realty Ltd., Brokerage (Kevin Grimes, Rob Garvin, and the entire team)
  • 2,400 lbs. of food from RCL Automotive (Chris, Leigh, and Rosalyn Craig)
  • 3,000 lbs of food from Glenview Iron and Metal, Palmer Recycling, and Mackat Transportation (the Cassell family)

And thanks to your generosity, we collected 5,574 lbs. of food donated at our grocery store locations!

Cash donations included:

  • $20 from the Smiths Falls Zombie Walk
  • $100 donated from winning Best Commercial Float in the Smiths Falls Santa Claus Parade
  • $115 from Hugh Colton’s Surprise Birthday Party
  • $200 from the SFDCI Junior RedHawks Basketball’s Friday Night Hoops for Food
  • $365.60 from RE/MAX Affiliates Realty Ltd., Brokerage Door-to-Door collection
  • $1,500 from Giant Tiger Smiths Falls
  • $1,500 from the Smiths Falls Civitan Club
  • $7,726.35 from the Lombard Glen Ladies Closing Tournament and all leagues and members that contributed to this effort

In addition, $1,279.50 in cash was donated throughout the day.

In all, 26,000 lbs of food came from the Store-to-Store Challenge between our grocery store locations, The Garden Market, Food Basics, Giant Tiger, and Andress’ Your Independent Grocer.

And we’d also like to send a shout out to the incredible staff at Andress’ for packing and selling all 809 pre-packaged bags on Saturday! Wow!!

We can’t say Thank You enough to our grocery store locations for their continued and unwavering support to Build a Mountain of Food! We’re quite literally running out of words to express our gratitude!

We’d also like to send out a huge Thank You to the folks at Tim Hortons and Subway for keeping our volunteers in coffee, muffins, and sandwiches. We really appreciate your support! You helped keep our volunteers fed and energized! 🙂
