The 2023 RCL Automotive
Build a Mountain of Food Campaign

From humble beginnings in 2007, where we collected 3,200 lbs. of food and $1,400 in cash for the food bank in Perth, the Build a Mountain of Food campaign has grown to support 11 of our local communities.

Last year alone, we collected 192,457 lbs. of food, and collected $276,991.02 in cash over our six-week campaign in the towns and villages of Almonte, Carleton Place, Perth, Lanark, Smiths Falls, Westport, Elgin, Portland, Merrickville, Athens, and Delta.

As we get ready to embark on our 17th year, we look back with incredible pride at what we’ve been able to accomplish up to this point, with 2,119,915 lbs. of food donated and collected, and cash donations of $1,697,420.45.

Wow!

How Do We Do It?

It all begins with our amazing volunteers. We simply just couldn’t do this without our dedicated team of volunteers who put so much of their hearts and souls into this campaign. We don’t even have the words to describe their tireless efforts and selfless dedication to Build a Mountain of Food.

We also couldn’t do what we do without the strong commitment and support of our grocery store owners and managers. Every year, they and their teams go above and beyond our wildest expectations. We are proud and grateful for their unwavering support.

And finally, you! The people who make up these communities we call home. how could we do this without your support?

Whether it’s a donation of food, or cash, or purchasing pre-packaged grocery bags from one of our grocery store locations, your love and generosity is really what’s made our campaign thrive these many years. We thank you with all our hearts.

Our Promise To You

We take great pride in the fact that we keep all of your donations in your communities. We don’t have a central warehouse. When you donate money in your community through Build a Mountain, every penny you give, and every food donation you drop off stays right in the community you donated in. All of it. If you donate in Portland, your donations go straight to the Portland food bank. Same for Westport. We’re excited to bring you the 2022 RCL Automotive Build a Mountain of Food Campaign this year, our 16th, as we continue with our goal to drive away hunger in our communities.

Please Join Us …

Again this year, we will be visiting 11 different towns and villages, including Almonte, Carleton Place, Perth, Lanark, Smiths Falls, Westport, Elgin, Portland, Merrickville, Athens, and Delta.

The campaign takes us through those 11 communities in six weeks, starting on Saturday, November 3rd and ending up on Saturday, December 16th.

Click here for the complete schedule.

We hope you will join us in our goal to drive away hunger in the communities we call home.

We believe there are two types of people in our communities … those who face hunger, and those who can help do something about it.

Please help if you can … it doesn’t take much to make a big difference.

Thank you!
